Samsung seems to be changing the design of foldable screen devices in the near future. They revealed to The Verge the new Flex In & Out screen design that allows the foldable screen to be folded 360 degrees. Through this design the device can be folded outwards or inwards with the device only needing one screen unlike the current Galaxy Fold design.
Based on the official images shared, this is the same prototype that was shown at CES a few weeks ago. At the time many predicted this was a design for the Galaxy Fold5 with a thinner hinge but it turned out to be a new, more complex hinge.
Is this a design for the Galaxy Z Fold5 in the future? Most likely not because the durability of the screen with this design is still unknown. Devices that use a fold-out design like the Mate Xs won't get much attention because of the screen being prone to damage. Since Samsung Display sells their panels to other companies, this Flex In & Out screen may be used by other manufacturers first in the near future.
