6 Ways to Prevent and Overcome Slow Laptops

It's annoying when the laptop you need for work or school suddenly slows down and hangs. I feel like I want to change my laptop right away, but I just remember that I have to save money because I have another budget. Huft.

Summarizing from Panda Security, Wednesday (2/6/2021), maybe you can start implementing the following steps to make your laptop work faster. How to deal with a slow laptop, among others:

1. Check hard disk space

The first thing to pay attention to is the free space on the hard disk, at least 15%. If you get your hard disk starting to get full, deleting some programs and files might be an option to increase the speed.

2. Close unused tabs

Often work with large projects that require many tabs open, so it is very possible that you forget to close tabs that are not used. Even though closing the tab can make the laptop work faster. Don't forget to refresh the browser.

3. Delete unused files

Temporary files used for the installation process, caches and cookies from the internet also make the laptop work harder. For Mac, install the CCleaner application to find out temporary files and delete them. For PC, click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup.

4. Restart the laptop

Don't forget to always restart the laptop because it can refresh the memory and can provide an opportunity to install updates. If you use a laptop continuously non-stop, it's a good idea to restart at least once a week to make sure the laptop runs smoothly.

5. Backup data

Try to help the laptop's performance by starting to back up data by providing an external hard disk. You can also take advantage of online services Google Photos, Amazon Drive, Dropbox and others. That way, the RAM is safe and the OS runs better.

6. Remove unused languages

A simple way to free up some computer operating space is to remove unused languages.

On a PC with Windows OS, do the following: Settings app > Time & Language > Language > Windows Display Language. Select the Language you want and set as Default Language. Select Remove language to free up space on the Windows system.
