Meta already has several apps that focus on sharing content, including Instagram and Facebook through its Reels feature and a few others.
Most recently, with YouTube starting to share revenue with content creators for YouTube Shorts – now Meta is said to be considering the same.
Discussions are still in their early stages, and if many agree at Meta, then it will see Meta share revenue generated through advertising with a number of other content creators.
For now, Meta is willing to share some revenue with content creators who upload videos, or embed Meta advertising on their products.
And with this move, if implemented, only TikTok is seen to be using a different model – while YouTube and Meta share revenue with their content creators.
