Rolls Royce's World's Largest Jet Engine Increases Efficiency Up to 10%

Rolls Royce announced the successful first test of the UltraFan, the world's largest jet engine. This engine with a diameter of 3.56 meters overtakes the record held by the GE9X with a diameter of 3.35 meters. Despite its giant size, the UltraFan is confirmed to improve fuel efficiency by up to 10% compared to the previous record holder Roll Royce Trent XWB.

With the initial tests completed, more tests will be carried out before the UltrFan can be used on commercial aircraft around 2030. Engine efficiency is achieved through the use of lighter titanium carbon composite materials and more ventilation flow.

This first UltraFan engine will be the platform for several variants that can be used on wide and small body aircraft in the future. By increasing efficiency, it will reduce aircraft operating costs and more importantly reduce the aircraft's large carbon footprint.
