Last May, Google launched Passkey, a new login method that replaces passwords. Passkey is supported by FIDO Alliance, Apple and Microsoft. Through it the account can be logged in using a fingerprint biometric scan, face scan or device lock screen pin.
Recently, WhatsApp was seen testing this feature for Android devices. With this feature when the user logs in to WhatsApp, it is very likely that the code on the SMS will no longer be needed because Passkey according to Google is the most secure login method.
Passkey also has a special code for each account, but the user does not need to remember it because everything is stored in Google Password Manager and the login process after verification is done automatically. This is an additional security feature, as previously WhatsApp was seen asking for the user's email for account verification. For now it is still in the testing stage and it is not sure when it will be launched.
