Panos Panay left Microsoft abruptly two weeks ago with rumors that he would join Amazon. Today Amazon CEO Naday Jassy confirmed that Panay will head up Amazon's devices and services business to replace the retiring Dave Limp.
Panay will begin his duties at the end of October. There are rumors that he left Microsoft after 19 years because of the company's decision to cancel some Surface products. After seeing only three laptops and one Surface smart screen launched last week, this speculation may be accurate.
With Panay on Amazon maybe we'll see products with innovative designs on their Alexa hardware soon. However, as a user in Malaysia, this will not have a direct impact because Amazon products are not officially offered here.
