Firefox announced starting December 14, as many as 400 Extensions will be able to be used on the Android version of the browser. Previously only a small number of Extensions were offered compared to the thousands that could be used on the desktop version.
At the initial stage only 400 are offered with plans to offer more in the near future. Extensions operate like plug-ins in Chrome that can add features such as ad blocking, quick link sharing to social media of choice and even put a dictionary to check spelling. To facilitate the production process of Extensions for Android, Firefox has shared some documentation that developers can use.
