Prasarana is the company behind several popular public transport services in Malaysia, including Rapid Bus, and also Rapid Rail. Most recently, Prasarana has shared the 2023-2030 Sustainability Action Plan. Through it, several targets have been set by the group in continuing to explore the commitment to environmental stewardship and well-being.
According to the action plan, Prasarana said they want to use 100% electric buses on all bus routes by the year 2037. In addition, Prasarana also aims to add 100 more electric buses by 2026, and an additional 481 by 2030.
In addition to the use of electric buses, Prasarana also aims to reduce energy consumption by up to 20% by the year 2030. This will indirectly reduce carbon emissions by up to 15%.
This infrastructure measure is also seen to be in line with Malaysia's plan to achieve a carbon neutral country by 2050.
