Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has partnered with Tech Hunter Global Sdn Bhd to launch Dynamic QR and Static QR Soundbox at twenty-four Ramadan bazaar locations around Kuala Lumpur.
As the name suggests, it can provide notification in the form of a clear sound to provide prompt payment alerts when a transaction is made.
It was introduced to promote the digital economy and foster a cashless payment culture. At the same time increasing the level of security more efficiently to overcome the risks related to financial fraud.
According to BSN, this smart audio device supports both Dynamic QR and Static QR types with different targets. Whereas, Static QR is more suitable for small and medium micro companies. Meanwhile, Dynamic QR focuses more on larger business sizes.
A keyboard is available to enter the payment amount.
Both QR code and NFC based payment methods are available for a pleasant shopping experience. It can then be seamlessly connected to the dealer's existing system using the internet or a Wi-Fi network. Also included is a lithium-ion battery with the ability to last up to more than 3,000 transactions in a day.
Looking at the demo that was shown just now, the process of using it is simple and more or less the same as paying using a regular QR code. Where the merchant has to enter the payment amount using the available keyboard.
Followed by customers who only need to scan the merchant's DuitNow QR code via their respective smartphones. Then the smart audio device will notify and display the payment amount on the built-in LED screen to merchants and customers regarding successful transactions.
