Bugs in the software can cause the application to not run smoothly. But in Sydney, Australia, a bug in the software of the cash-out machine caused Star Casino to lose AUD $3.2 (~RM 9.8 million).
At Star Casino, winners can convert slot machine winning tickets to cash using TICO machines. This machine can read the bar codes of two winning tickets simultaneously before disbursing the winnings. But a bug caused one ticket to be returned without it being entered into the system as redeemed.
As a result it can be used many times to withdraw money without hindrance by 43 individuals. This bug is believed to have been going on for over a month but was not noticed by the casino.
