Qualcomm Is Testing Snapdragon X Plus Chips

The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip will start appearing on Windows on Arm PCs starting H2 2024. It is highly anticipated because it is seen as a competitor to the Apple M chip series that offers high performance but with better power saving compared to X86 chips. As we await the launch of the device with the X Elite, Qualcomm is also teasing two new chips that have yet to be announced.

The X1P44100 and X1P46100 chips have been tested since February. Based on the X1P name, it is most likely a Snapdragon X Plus chip. The Snapdragon X Elite chip uses the code name X1E. There is speculation that the X Plus is a more affordable model with a lower number of CPU cores. Other information about the X Plus is still unknown. For sure it may be launched simultaneously with the PC equipped with the X Elite later.

So far Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Microsoft, Samsung, Xiaomi and Honor have confirmed they will launch PCs with the X Elite. We were only able to test the 23W prototype product without a cooling fan and the 80W with active cooling when the X Elite was launched in October last year. Based on the benchmark scores, it has the potential to rival Apple Silicon.
