AstraZeneca has recalled all of its Covid-19 vaccines due to lack of demand globally. Mareka also withdrew the permission to market the Vaxzevria vaccine in Europe.
In a statement to Reuters, AstraZenece said the market is now saturated with more recent Covid-19 vaccines, making Vaxzevria no longer necessary. In fact they no longer manufacture and supply this vaccine for the same reason.
The application to withdraw Vaxzevria was filed on March 5 and only took effect yesterday. The withdrawal comes after AstraZeneca admitted in court that their Covid-19 vaccine caused a reduction in platelets in the blood and caused blood clotting issues in isolated cases.
