Counterpoint Research is now sharing the latest data, showing that Xiaomi has overtaken Apple for the first time in three years, simultaneously holding the throne of the world's second largest smartphone brand, in August 2024. This development may be temporary, given that Apple has already launched the iPhone 16 in September which may see sales by Apple increase again in September.
Xiaomi itself this year did not produce as many products as before. They are seen to focus more on some specific products at different price categories in order to win the hearts of consumers. For this week, Xiaomi will introduce their latest flagship phone, the Xiaomi 14T.
Occupying the first step far ahead is Samsung, which may need more time for Apple or Xiaomi to catch up.
