Apple May Not Use Scratch-Resistant Anti-Reflective Coating on iPhone 17

Apple is reportedly likely to scrap plans to use a scratch-resistant anti-reflective coating on the iPhone 17 series screens. The decision was made following problems that arose in mass production that caused the need to produce millions of units of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max to be unable to be met.

Currently, Apple uses a special oleophobic coating on the latest iPhones to reduce fingerprints, but this coating does not have anti-reflective properties like the technology used by its competitors. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra uses a Corning Gorilla Glass Armor glass panel that can reduce reflections by up to 75%, thus providing a clearer display in bright conditions and improving contrast and color accuracy.

Although Apple has used Nano-texture technology on products such as the Mac and iPad Pro to reduce glare. It is still uncertain whether this technology will be used on iPhones in the future or not.
