Vacuum cleaners were invented to replace brooms with the first machine invented in 1860. After 165 years, it is now back to its nature after the Dyson PencilVac was launched. It is the most compact and lightest cordless vacuum cleaner ever produced by Dyson.
The electric motor, battery and dust collector of the PencilVac are located in the handle. The electric motor used has a fan with a diameter of only 38mm. The very small motor for this vacuum cleaner is developed from the motor used in the Supersonic R and Supersonic hair dryers.
It also uses a new Fluffycones cleaning head which is designed to have no tangled hair problem. For the first time, Dyson's cleaning head has an open brush end solving the issue of hitting walls and tangled hair will be pulled out by itself until it reaches the end. The hinge that connects the cleaning head to the handle moves in all directions to make it easier to clean hard-to-reach spaces.
With a design like this broom, the PencilVac is only 1.8 kg, making it easy to use for cleaning high places. The vacuumed dust is also stored in the handle with the user simply having to push it forward to empty it when full. What is a bit concerning is that the storage space only has a capacity of 0.08L compared to 0.35 L on the V12s Detect Slim.
The battery can last up to 30 minutes with the battery being removable for replacement with a new one. There is a charging dock that doubles as storage and an extra battery. The Dyson PencilVac is currently only available in Japan at a price of ¥84,920 (~RM 2518) each.
