Are you looking for a gaming laptop that comes with powerful specifications, but at a more affordable price, and don't care about side specifications such as screen display type or plug support and so on?
In conjunction with the Computex Taipei event that will take place this week, Acer Malaysia has shown two computers in the Acer Nitro series, namely the Acer Nitro 16S AI and Acer V Nitro 16S AI.
Design
The design of both Acer Nitro V 16S AI and Acer Nitro 16S AI laptops is almost similar to each other. Both laptops are equipped with a 16-inch IPS screen display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2560×1600 with a refresh rate of 180Hz.
The frame of both laptops is made of aluminum and comes with a thickness of 19.9mm, where even though the size of this laptop looks quite large, it can still be carried anywhere easily.
In terms of plug offerings, both Acer Nitro 16S AI and Nitro V 16S AI come with two USB 4 plugs, three USB 3.2 Type-A plugs, one HDMI plug, one 3.5mm audio plug and one MicroSD card reader. In the meantime, these laptops also support WiFi 6E wireless internet connection technology.
There are two differences between these two laptops, and they can be seen through the design of the back of this laptop, which shows a larger “forehead” on the Acer Nitro 16S compared to what is on the Acer Nitro V 16S. This is probably due to the difference in terms of graphics card component offerings between these two laptops.
Specifications
These laptops are powered by the same specifications for almost all of their components, except for one. The AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 is the processor option, and is combined with 32GB of DDR5 memory with 2TB of PCIe4 SSD storage.
In terms of graphics cards, the Acer Nitro 16S AI is powered by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070Ti processor, while the Acer Nitro V 16S AI is powered by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card. The difference between these two graphics cards comes in terms of the number of CUDA cores used (5888 on the RTX 5070 Ti, 4608 on the RTX 5070) and memory (12GB on the RTX 5070 Ti, 8GB on the RTX 5070).
This difference in graphics card offerings is said to be why there is a slight difference in the size of the Nitro 16S AI and Nitro V 16S AI laptops.
Both laptops also use the same four-heatpipe and two-fan cooling system, with the more powerful Nitro 16S also using liquid metal to more efficiently transfer heat to the cooling system and built-in fan.
Wrapping Up
Similar to the Predator Helios Neo 14 AI laptop, both the Acer Nitro 16S AI and Acer Nitro V 16S AI laptops will be entering the Malaysian market soon, and likely with the same specifications as shown.
It is hoped that the Acer Nitro gaming laptops that will be coming to the Malaysian market will be powerful enough to run at high resolutions and graphics settings at an affordable price.
