The Gears of War series launched in 2006 as an exclusive on PC and Xbox 360. Due to the console war between Sony and Microsoft, PlayStation owners could only see this popular game on the Xbox console. But the video game landscape in 2025 is much different. Games that were once exclusive to Xbox are now starting to come to PlayStation. Today, the Gears of War Reloaded game was confirmed to be coming to PlayStation 5 on August 26.
Gears of War Reloaded is a remaster of all the original Gears of War games from 2006 with improved graphics quality, 4K resolution support and frame rates up to 120 FPS. In addition to PS5, this game will also be launched on Xbox Series S/X consoles and PC.
Microsoft's strategy is to no longer offer games exclusively on their own platform. Last year saw Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves and Pentiment coming to PS5. This year, Forza Horizon 5, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages were also confirmed.
