Instagram initially started with a focus on following friends, and looking at the content shared by them. However, day by day, the platform has changed, and through algorithm integration, various content from random accounts has begun to be displayed.
According to Meta's own sharing, it is seen that Instagram users are spending less time viewing content from friends, instead spending more time on the Reels section of the application.
This also sees a shift in the social arena from being based on friends, to being based on interests. TikTok itself is ready to lead this arena through their algorithm, and show content that users are interested in, without taking into account the circle of friends.
However, Facebook has previously expressed its intention to return to focusing on the content of friends and family through their platform.
