Intel is expected to introduce the Panther Lake processor series later this year, and now, some new details have been reported about it.
Previously, it was reported that Intel would split the launch of Panther Lake processor chips into two, the first being launched at the end of this year, and then laptops using the processor will arrive in early 2026.
Panther Lake processor chips will cover the entire series of Intel-powered laptop processors for this next generation, and this means that Intel's "U" series of processor chips will return to the market for thin and light laptops.
Recently, details about a model of Panther Lake processor chips have leaked onto the web, consisting of four performance cores, eight efficiency cores, and no low-power efficiency cores. It will also come with four Xe3 cores (most likely Celestial graphics chips) and have a total power consumption of 45W.
Unlike Intel's Lunar Lake chips, Panther Lake processors will no longer come with built-in memory, and henceforth, laptop makers will be given the option to load the appropriate amount of memory into their laptops.
It is said that Intel's Panther Lake chip configuration with four performance cores and eight efficiency cores will be introduced this year, with other models only arriving next year. Interestingly, this model is categorized under the Intel Panther Lake-H series of processor chips. For some previous models, Intel has typically introduced processor models for thin and light laptops first.
The higher power consumption also shows an increase in performance, but whether it will maintain the battery life enjoyed by laptops with Intel Lunar Lake chips is not yet known.
