iPhone 17 Air Battery Smaller Than Galaxy S25 Edge

After the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was launched last week, many criticized the thin device for only being equipped with a 3900 mAh battery, which is small for 2025. Last weekend, the size of the iPhone 17 Air battery was leaked and it was only 2800 mAh. This casts doubt on the ability of Apple's thin phone to last all day. Below is a table of battery capacities of all iPhone 16 models that have been launched.

Model Battery Size Difference with Pro Max (%)

iPhone 16 Pro Max 4685 mAh 0

iPhone 16 Pro 3582 mAh -23.5%

iPhone 16 Plus 4674 mAh -0.23%

iPhone 16 3561 mAh -23.9%

iPhone 16e 3,961 mAh -15.,5%

iPhone 17 Air 2800 mAh -40.2%

This is equivalent to a reduction of -40.2% compared to the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. But the iPhone 17 Air is believed to be equipped with a 6.7″ screen so it is more compatible compared to the iPhone 16 Plus with the same screen size. The difference in battery capacity of the two devices is 40.1% which is still very large.

But at the same time the iPhone 17 Air is said to be only 5.5mm thick and weighs 145 grams. This is thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge which is 5.8mm thick and weighs 163 grams. At this time, all of this is still speculation, but if true, the iPhone 17 Air will definitely have battery issues, which reinforces the rumors that Apple will re-offer the discontinued Smart Battery Case.
