The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has now been directed by the Minister of Communications to examine and study the differences in 4G network coverage in populated areas. This is because there is a gap between the coverage of telecommunications companies in various locations throughout the country.
Touching on this further, the Minister of Communications said that in aggregate, 4G coverage in Malaysia has now reached 92% in Sarawak, and 98.7% nationwide. However, the actual rate differs between telecommunications companies. Several telecommunications companies recorded a coverage figure for populated areas of around 76%, and some reached 86%.
In parallel with this, MCMC has been asked to examine the aggregate figure for the coverage of populated areas according to location and each telecommunications company, nationwide.
The Minister also emphasized that the people pay to get parallel internet coverage throughout the country, and not just in one location.
