Google has accidentally leaked the next Android interface design, named Material 3 Expressive. This will be the third iteration of Material Design introduced in 2014 and will bring several changes to Material You introduced in 2018 through Android 12.
This page has been deleted but it was successfully noticed by 9to5Google. Material 3 Expressive was developed as a result of a study by Google that conducted 46 studies, involving hundreds of designs with more than 18,000 participants.
The direction of this design is to no longer use the “clean” but boring design as it is used now. The study participants were found to prefer interfaces that can provide emotions and are more expressive. Therefore, Material 3 Expressive uses larger and clearer colors and shapes.
With this, interface elements will be able to attract the attention of users better. As a result, users can find the interface elements they want to use four times faster. This can be seen through the example below for the email application. The various features that can be used are displayed quite clearly.
At first glance, it looks like a combination of iOS 18 interface elements and Nothing OS using larger and clearer interface elements. More information about Material 3 Expressive will definitely be shared during the Google I/O event which will take place on May 20 to 21.
