Spotify is now adding metrics support to their platform, allowing users to see how many times a podcast has been played. For now, this metric support only focuses on podcast content – whether in the form of audio or video.
With this move, it will make it easier for users to easily see the popular and most listened to episodes under a publisher or channel. Spotify aims for this move to also make users want to listen to other podcasts since they are already listened to by many.
At the same time, this move also allows content publishers to compare their podcasts with other publishers.
This new feature is being introduced gradually by Spotify.
