WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to take full control over how voice messages are transcribed. The feature can be accessed through the app's settings, and it offers three different control options.
The first option is automatic transcription (Automatically) which allows all voice messages to be automatically transcribed upon receipt. This option is suitable for those who prefer to read messages rather than listen to audio, especially in situations where listening to voice messages may not be convenient at the time.
The second option is manual transcription (Manually) where users will have to manually transcribe each time they want to view them. The third option allows users to turn off the transcription feature completely (Never), either automatically or manually. This option is suitable for those who prefer to listen to voice messages in their original form without using this function.
According to WhatsApp, this feature uses technology developed by them, and relies on supported language options. These include English, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and Hindi, which will also be improved with more options in the future.
So far, it has also begun to be distributed to some WhatsApp beta users on Android devices via a new update to the application.
