In addition to Meta trying to acquire Perplexity, Bloomberg has now also reported that Apple has held internal discussions regarding the potential acquisition of Perplexity AI.
Perplexity AI is one of the firms focusing on artificial intelligence that is known for its support for artificial intelligence-generated search. Not only that, Perplexity also offers a dedicated application for the iPhone, which operates better than Siri. They are also currently in the process of developing and introducing their own web browser, called Comet. Perplexity itself is valued at around $14 billion based on the latest funding injection.
For Apple, they are already far behind in the artificial intelligence arena, and a number of features announced since last year have still not been introduced until today. The acquisition of Perplexity is seen as not only providing access to talent and technology, but also a well-known artificial intelligence brand.
For now, Apple is still discussing it internally, and it is not known whether it has made an offer to Perplexity or otherwise.
