Full Enforcement of Vehicle Entry Permits (VEP) Starting 1 July 2025

Starting 1 July 2025, the Malaysian Government will implement full enforcement of the Foreign Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) at the Malaysia-Singapore land border crossings. Foreign vehicle owners are required to register and activate their VEP before entering Malaysia.

Failure to do so will result in a summons from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and a fine of RM300 before leaving the country. Payment of the summons can only be made cashless at the JPJ Office, JPJ Mobile Counter or via online platforms such as myEG.

This measure aims to ensure that all foreign vehicles entering Malaysia have a valid permit in accordance with Section 66H (7), Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333). In addition, this enforcement will ensure compliance with road regulations as well as improve safety and smooth traffic at the country's border crossings.
