KPDN: All Information Listings for Goods for Online Sale Must be in Bahasa Malaysia

Today, many sellers on e-commerce sites still list in English as the main language, and some do not include Bahasa Malaysia listings in their listings. However, this is expected to change soon.

According to legislation passed on December 25, 2024, it is stipulated that the information disclosed by suppliers and online sellers in shopping malls must be in the national language, namely Bahasa Malaysia. This will also require all titles and information about a product or service to be written in Bahasa Malaysia.

In addition to information in the national language, sellers or suppliers can make additional translations in other languages for information disclosure.

At the same time, according to the same regulations, suppliers or sellers must bear the cost of re-delivery to buyers if the goods received by the buyer are materially different or contain defects.

Several shopping platforms have begun sending notifications regarding this matter to their sellers, and are preparing for this new change.
