If we go to a store today, it is common to see TVs used to display food menus or promotions for certain products. But TVs use a lot of power and if left on all day, they will break down in a few years. Therefore, ePaper screens are a more energy-efficient and longer-lasting alternative.
Samsung has launched their latest ePaper screens under the EMDX series. Like E-ink technology, ePaper requires electricity if the image on the screen is changed. Samsung says that if the image on their screen is changed once a day, it can operate for up to 200 days before the battery needs to be charged.
The screen is equipped with a 4600 mAh battery that allows it to be placed in the store space without having to be plugged into a power outlet. This new Samsung technology is based on E-Ink Spectra 6 technology with color support, 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and can support video display up to 165Hz if needed
Each Samsung EM32DX screen is equipped with 8GB of memory, supports HDMI, USB-C and Bluetooth connections. Each unit of this ePaper screen is sold for $1,350 (~RM 5734) each.
