In the middle of this year, AMD introduced the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series of processor chips consisting of the Threadripper Pro 9000 and regular Threadripper 9000 model series. While the Threadripper Pro 9000 has been introduced to the market recently, AMD has also confirmed the arrival of the Threadripper 9000 processor chip as well.
According to a tweet via their X/Twitter account, AMD said that the processor chip series will be sold in the global market starting July 31, 2025.

The processors in this series will come in the form of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9980X with 64 physical cores, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9970X with 32 physical cores, and the AMD Ryzen 9960X with 24 physical cores. They also feature a power-threading feature that comes with twice the number of physical cores. Depending on the CPU model, it can be automatically overclocked up to 5.4GHz via Precision Boost speeds.
All of these processors also come with a total power consumption of 350W, so you'll want to build a computer with a power supply of at least 1KW to 1.5KW to take full advantage of these processors.
In terms of motherboard support, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series of processors supports existing TRX50 motherboards and supports quad-channel DDR5-6400 memory with a capacity of up to 1024GB. To combine this new processor with the motherboard, you only need the latest BIOS update from the motherboard manufacturer.
