Unitree, a robot developer based in China, has now started offering its humanoid robots commercially, starting at around RM25,000 each. This initial offering seems to be more targeted at developers, allowing developers to integrate their models with the robot for development and testing purposes.
The Unitree R1 is shown to be able to perform various actions, including running, jumping, getting up quickly if it falls, and other actions. Unitree says it comes built with its own language model. The robot comes with 26 connection points for operation, and weighs around 25 kilograms.
This much lower price offer also opens up various potentials for this robot to be used in development and research. Previously, various parties who were developing robots targeted a price of over a hundred thousand per unit, and Unitree seems to have managed to overcome the problem in terms of cost, and offer it at a more competitive price.
With this healthy development, let's all look forward to what's next in the robotics arena, and how other competitors will compete in terms of offering prices and more.
