If you’ve ever owned a Pebble smartwatch, or are a fan of the watch brand, there’s good news for you. Eric Migicovsky, the watch brand’s founder, has announced that he has received back the trademark rights for the smartwatch.
Pebble was one of the first smartwatch brands to hit the market with a unique offering as a wearable device that not only displays the time and date, but can also be used to view notifications without having to wake up your smart device.

Pebble was later acquired by FitBit in 2016, and Eric also created a new series of smartwatches called rePebble which now comes with the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 devices. Now that the FitBit brand is no longer producing any new devices, it seems that he has also managed to regain the trademark rights for his brand.
In an announcement, Eric said that with the return of the Pebble branding, he has also decided to rename the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 devices to Pebble 2 Duo and Pebble Time 2.
The products were supposed to start selling and shipping to pre-order customers in early July, but Eric said that with the rebranding of these smartwatches, he also wanted to take the time to improve the quality of some features such as water resistance and Pebble software for Apple iOS and Android platforms.
For now, he has not yet set a date for when these devices will be released to the market, but with the rebranding of these devices, they may be released to the market in one to two months.
