The “Liquid Glass” interface design was introduced at WWDC this year with transparent glass-like elements used in iOS 26, ipadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS and more. After the Beta version of the application was given to developers a month ago, many also complained that the transparent effect used made the interface elements difficult to read. This morning iOS 26 Beta 3 was given and it reduced the transparent effect and the light refraction used.
The light refraction is now reduced quite significantly and the position of the quick shortcut tray has also been lowered slightly. There are reports that the transparent effect is now more blurred than before but on the device I own I did not see a significant change.
This change was made by Apple after receiving developer feedback. In my opinion, the transparent effect used is quite extreme so that it is difficult to distinguish the foreground image from the background image, especially on the lock screen.
Various interface elements as well as iOS 26 and all other operating systems will be changed little by little before the final version is given around September. A few weeks ago, the Finder icon was redesigned in macOS 26 after being criticized on social media.
The use of a glass interface and the return to 3D was unexpected considering the use of flat interface elements introduced 13 years ago. Many expected it to be a tactic by Apple to familiarize users of its products with the interface that will be used on smart glasses that are currently in development.
