A barrier-free toll system has been talked about for several years. Touching on it, the Ministry of Works has now said that a barrier-free toll system may be implemented at the earliest around 2027.

Although the idea of implementing a barrier-free toll system has been talked about for several years, it is seen as taking a long time. Several of the required parameters have been drafted by the Ministry of Works, but have not yet been discussed with highway operators, since they have not yet received a decision from the Cabinet.
In addition, it is expected that new legislation may be needed to successfully implement this barrier-free toll system.
Through the barrier-free toll system, it will allow users to link their payment method to a system, and pass through the toll section as usual without having to stop their vehicles or get stuck like today. This measure is expected to reduce congestion, and further smoothen travel on the highway.
Several parties have previously tested the concept of a barrier-free toll system. However, the Ministry of Works said the government has not yet started any pilot tests for it at this time.
