CarPlay Ultra was announced this year as the next evolution of the iPhone-based CarPlay system for in-car infotainment systems. According to a report by BMW Blog, BMW has become the latest automaker to drop support for CarPlay Ultra. It follows Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volvo, Polestar, and Renault, which also dropped support last month.
So far, only Aston Martin has confirmed that it will support CarPlay Ultra this year, but only on customer vehicles in the United States and Canada. When it was announced in 2022, 13 companies announced that they would support CarPlay Ultra, which changes the interface of all screens in the vehicle.
It is still unknown whether Land Rover, Porsche, Nissan, Ford, Lincoln, Jaguar, Acura, Honda, and Infinity will continue with their plans to support CarPlay Ultra.
