Honor May Be Developing a Flagship Phone with 200MP Dual Cameras

Honor is reportedly developing a new flagship phone featuring a 200MP dual camera, possibly known as the Honor Magic 8 Ultra. If this information is true, the device will be one of the first in the industry to offer such a high-resolution camera configuration.

According to early reports, the device is expected to compete with other flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, Xiaomi 16 Ultra and Oppo Find X9. The device is believed to come with a 200MP main camera configuration and a 200MP telephoto for sharp long-range zoom capabilities and better low-light performance.

Periscope technology is not new to Honor, in fact the brand has introduced features such as AI Super Zoom that uses a built-in algorithm to produce much clearer images. It is also in line with the current trend that shows devices such as the Magic7 RSR Porsche Edition and Xiaomi 15 Ultra coming with high-resolution periscope telephoto cameras.

Honor's Chief Imaging Engineer, Luo Wei, also responded to speculations about the use of a 1-inch sensor and a dual-sensor configuration sharing a single module. He stressed that Honor does not opt for excessive design but focuses on user-friendly innovation. Their imaging strategy is based on several key principles, including features that can be consistently improved by AI.

According to Luo, in the next three years, Honor is expected to reach a level of camera technology that is difficult for other brands to match. The Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro are expected to launch around October 2025 with the support of Qualcomm's new chip, while the Ultra version has the potential to set a new standard in their flagship phone line-up.
