The mystery of why the operating licenses of InDrive and Maxim were revoked last May has now been solved. This is because both companies allowed their drivers to operate without the government-imposed EVP (Electric Vehicle Permit). As a result, last week they were also imposed a 3-month monitoring period by the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD).
In a statement issued today, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said his party views the offense committed by InDrive and Maxim seriously because EVP is an important requirement that licensees of electric vehicle operators in Malaysia must comply with.
The 3-month monitoring period was imposed because it was the first offense. Maxim and InDrive are now said to have improved their registration systems, in addition to providing APAD with data access in the process of cross-checking between company data and data under APAD's management. Company representatives are also required to attend the APAD Headquarters every month during this monitoring period.
