MyDigital ID Now Has Over 2.8 Million Registered Users

As of June 2025, MyDigital ID now has over 2.8 million registered users according to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Dr. Zaliha at the morning session of Parliament today. According to him, this is an increase from 1.8 million registered users in the first quarter of 2025 and 1 million users in October 2024. However, it is still far behind the target of 15 million registered users by the end of 2025 targeted by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the end of last year.

So far, MyDigital ID has been integrated into 35 government applications with 17 more currently in the implementation process while 21 more are in the initial discussion process. Also being done is the integration of MyDigital ID into 6 local banking applications which are undergoing the testing process and monitoring by Bank Negara Malaysia.

More interestingly, by the end of the third quarter of 2025, verification of the identity of prepaid SIM card owners using MyDigital ID will also be enforced. This will to some extent reduce the problem of online fraud using prepaid lines with them impersonating police officers, LHDN, banks and many more, so that many have become victims.

The MyDigital ID program began as the National Digital ID in 2019. In the original plan, apart from being used as a verification of identity when dealing with government departments, it will also be used in e-commerce platforms, verification of digital health records and online voting.
