Nintendo Game Boy is a portable console that is already 36 years old. Almost four years ago, it was a portable console that was a luxury in kindergartens. Unlike the Game & Watch system also released by Nintendo, Game Boy games were interchangeable. For Lego and Nintendo fans, your Venn diagrams this morning overlap because the Lego Nintendo Game Boy set was announced at San Diego Comic Con.
This Lego 72046 Game Boy set is on a 1:1 scale of the original Game Boy. It comes with two cartridges Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. The display on the Game Boy’s “LCD screen” can also be changed to show scenes from the two games and the boot screen when the console is turned on.
All the control buttons, knobs and levers are made in Lego form. Even the cartridges of the two games mentioned earlier can be inserted into the slots on the back. The set contains 421 Lego bricks in total and it will be sold starting October 1 for $59.99 (~RM 253). At the time the article was written, the sale price in Malaysia had not been announced.
The Game Boy set is compatible placed next to the Nintendo Entertainment System and Pac-Man sets sold by Lego before.
