Perplexity, one of the companies focused on artificial intelligence, has also expanded its offering to include web browsers recently. The web browser, called Comet, includes artificial intelligence built-in, thus simplifying the user's tasks when browsing the web - and allows a number of commands to be executed, and the web browser agent will execute them for the user.
Not only offering to paying customers, Perplexity is also now talking to several device manufacturers, to include Comet built-in on the smartphones it sells. For now, the smartphone brands in question are not disclosed.
It will also be one of the challenges for Perplexity to convince device manufacturers to replace Chrome with Comet in their respective offerings.
Perplexity has not yet officially launched the Comet mobile web browser, and only offers it on desktops. With discussions with device manufacturers, it seems that Perplexity is already planning for the next phase, ensuring they are ahead of other competitors in this arena, including OpenAI – who are also developing their own web browser.
