Photoshop Updated with AI-Assisted Quick Editing Features

Adobe launched several exciting features in Photoshop Beta this morning that will speed up the process of editing images that have been taking a long time to do manually.

Starting with Harmonize, which will produce realistic shadows and reflections when new elements are added to the original image. In the demo shared by Adobe, a crane-shaped buoy is given reflections on the surface of the pond water and shadows that match the surrounding objects.

Next is the Remove feature, which has been further improved through the latest Firefly model. With the latest update, the process of removing unwanted elements has become more accurate. Remove users have long complained that the algorithm used previously often produced strange-looking original images.

Finally, the Generative Upscale feature is provided built-in to Photoshop. Image quality can be upgraded to 8 megapixels. I personally had to use a photo resolution upgrade service from another application before exporting to Photoshop. This is a feature that should have been provided much earlier.

Users are also now given the option of using different Firefly models to help with editing tasks. The two models provided at this time are Firefly 1 and Firefly 3 only with no access to third-party models. All of the features announced today are available through Photoshop Beta on desktop, web, and iOS.
