Synology DS1825+ Introduced – Comes with Support for 300TB of Storage

Synology has added a NAS storage option to its offering, introducing the Synology DS1825+ to its high-performance NAS offering for office use.

This NAS storage comes with eight hard drive storage bays, and can accommodate up to 300TB of storage, large enough for a small to medium-sized company to store various types of files and digital documents for years.

To speed up access to these files, it also has two additional slots for M.2 2280 SSD storage as cache memory. Basically, it features two RJ-45 plugs for a 2.5GbE wired internet connection that can be upgraded to 10/25GbE connection using a PCIe 3.0 expansion card if you need a faster network connection.

By using SSD cache memory, the speed of reading and writing data over the network can be seen to be as fast as 2,239 MB/s and 1,573 MB/s, suitable for all types of small and medium-sized offices, depending on the company's needs.

If more storage is needed, users can also add a Synology DX525 NAS to the DS1825+ to make the total storage up to 360TB. With a RAID 5 storage configuration, users can get about 309TB of storage with data backup function, in case any of the hard drives used die.

Speaking of hard drives, users will also need to use Synology's own hard drives or hard drives certified by them to get the full features of this NAS storage. It has already started to be offered in selected markets for now at a starting price of $1,150 (~RM4890).
