YouTube is arguably the world’s largest video and music sharing platform, and one of the reasons why it is so popular is that YouTube will pay content creators based on how popular the content is based on how many subscribers a channel has, as well as the number of video views.
With the rapid advancement of AI technology, where it can now generate videos and music at a very fast rate, YouTube has found that there are many channels on their platform that are uploading videos generated using generative AI that are receiving a very high response.
According to several reports, the issue with such content is that it is often seen as low quality, full of fake details and can sometimes lead to misunderstandings and suspicions. Due to this, YouTube is reportedly in the process of updating their YouTube Partner Program terms and conditions to not pay for such content in the future.
YouTube said that the terms and conditions will be updated on July 15, 2025, and full details on how they will show that content will not be paid will be revealed later.
Rene Ritchie, YouTube Head of Editorial & Creator Liaison, said that the concern that reaction content creators will no longer be paid is something they don't need to worry about if the reaction content transforms the original content into something unique to them.
