The Ministry of Public Works recently announced that the MyJalan application, which they introduced to facilitate the public to make complaints about damaged roads and the like, has successfully helped the ministry to identify and resolve various road-related issues in Malaysia.
The application was launched around two years ago, in August 2023, and to date, has 54,330 users who are actively channeling complaints regarding road conditions through the application.
According to the Minister of Public Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, since the application was launched, his ministry has received 12,459 complaints so far and has resolved 11,860 of them, or around 95 percent of the complaints received. The 599 unresolved complaints are being investigated and further actions are being identified and will be resolved by the Public Works Department later.
He added that technically, the MyJalan application has received 40,938 complaints regarding damaged roads since it was launched, but almost 70 percent of the complaints received are for roads not under the supervision of the Ministry of Works.
With the “No Wrong Door” policy implemented by the government, these complaints have been extended to relevant government bodies and authorities, such as the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Municipal Councils and so on.
The Ministry of Works is also carrying out a rehabilitation project for the East-West Highway which aims to upgrade the road surface, street lighting system and other infrastructure worth RM100 million. This rehabilitation project is expected to be completed around 2026.
