After 7 Years, Proton Now Offers “Hi Proton” Support in Bahasa Malaysia

After seven years of introducing the “Hi Proton” feature, Proton has finally started introducing voice recognition integration in Bahasa Malaysia, starting with the recently launched Proton X50. With this integration, users can perform a number of in-vehicle controls using Bahasa Malaysia.

Proton said that the development in Bahasa Malaysia began in October 2024, and was completed in May 2025. This 7-month development involved collecting approximately 4000 variations of Bahasa Malaysia pronunciation, thus allowing users to perform voice-based controls, including using several local accents.

Among the things that can be controlled using the “Hi Proton” voice commands are in-vehicle controls such as making voice calls, controlling the radio, controlling music and navigation, controlling vehicle windows, and controlling air conditioning. Proton aims to make it easier for users to control a number of things without having to take their hands off the steering wheel.

As of June 2025 alone, the “Hi Proton” feature had 228,046 active users. This offer in Malaysian is only available for Proton X50 2025 users for now. It is expected to be expanded to other models in stages.
