I am 46 years old and what I have noticed since the beginning of this year is that I have difficulty reading on phone and computer screens. After going to see a doctor, he confirmed that I now have a nearsightedness problem or Presbyopia which is common in individuals aged 45 and above. As a result, new multifocal glasses need to be made at a cost of thousands of ringgit.
In the United States, VIZZ eye drops that treat nearsightedness have received approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use. VIZZ was developed by LENZ by shrinking the size of the pupil, creating a pinhole effect that helps the eye focus on close objects. It also solves the issue of nearsightedness without the need for glasses or surgery.
Each VIZZ eye drop can last up to 10 hours. It is not the first eye drop to treat nearsightedness to be marketed. In 2021, Vuity became the first, but it came with a side effect that caused the eye muscles to be affected, creating farsightedness problems. VIZZ works without this issue. With the approval received from the FDA, LENZ will begin marketing VIZZ starting Q4 2025.
