Google Tensor G5 Launched With 3nm Technology and 34% Faster CPU

The Google Tensor G5 chip was also officially launched early this morning, as it is the first Tensor chip using TSMC's 3nm technology. Google has not revealed full specifications, only saying that the G5 comes with one performance CPU core, five mid-range cores and two energy-saving cores. Overall, the G5 CPU is 34% faster than the G4.

This CPU is paired with a 60% more powerful TPU, allowing the Pixel 10 series to run the latest Gemini Nano model directly from the device. Google added that the Gemini Nano's processing is now 2.6x faster but 2x more efficient running the Pixel Screenshots and Recorder apps. In addition, the Gemini Nano now has 32K token levels compared to only 12K last year. This means it can process larger documents.

The chip's ISP has been improved to improve performance in low-light situations and video. With the increased power of the G5, features such as Add Me, Auto Best Take, 100x Pro Res Zoom, Magic Cue, Call Notes, Scam Detection can be performed quickly.
