Parental Controls Feature Included in Android – Controlling Children’s Devices Without Google Family Link

Google Family Link allows parents and guardians to control their children’s device usage. But the steps to activate it can be a bit confusing. Today Google announced that the Parental Controls feature is now built directly into Android, allowing control to be done without the device having to be enrolled in Family Link first.

Parental Controls are placed directly in Android settings. Parents and guardians can set time limits on device usage, filter prohibited websites, block apps, set app usage times and control specific times when the device can be used by the child.

For more detailed controls such as app installation, app payments, location tracking and multi-device control, Google still recommends using Family Link. Parental Controls is currently being tested in Android Beta with it being rolled out to all other Android devices in the future.
