Swedish Prime Minister Criticized for Using ChatGPT to Advise on Government Policy

Is it permissible for a head of state to seek the help of artificial intelligence (AI) before introducing government policy? This is a question that has become a hot topic in Sweden after Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson admitted that he asked ChatGPT about the strategy his government wants to use in an interview with Degen Industri.

The criticism was severe even though Kristersson later explained that it was simply a process of getting a second opinion to see what other governments have done to address the same issue. Among the negative comments received was that the people voted for humans instead of AI chatbots to manage energy.

The question of using AI to help with tasks has been a hot topic of conversation since ChatGPT was launched in late 2022. Starting as a simple chatbot, it can now produce applications, develop websites, take over basic human tasks and now comes with agents that have caused many to be fired.

If in Malaysia the head of state admitted to using AI to formulate national policy, what do you think? To what extent is the use of AI acceptable before it is considered excessive?
