Vivaldi Won’t Add AI Integration to Web Browsers for Now

Vivaldi, one of the most popular web browsers on the market, has now stated that it will not integrate artificial intelligence into its web browser for now, as a number of other web browser developers have done.

Vivaldi said it will not add any LLM-based chatbots, content summarization functions, or form-filling features to the web using artificial intelligence. This will not be implemented for now, until better methods come along in the future.

Vivaldi also emphasized that they focus on people over “hype”. They say that browsing the web itself is something interesting that involves exploration, research, and forming an active questioning mind. They do not want to make users of their product someone who is just passive, while using artificial intelligence that steals copyright and violates privacy.
