xAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence-focused company, today began offering the Grok 2.5 model in open source, allowing developers to look at its source code. The code for it is now offered via HuggingFace.
xAI offers it under the “Grok 2 Community” license, which comes with some restrictions on commercial use, including in terms of its use in training other models. For those of you interested in using it, you can check the license offered via the HuggingFace site.
In parallel with this introduction, Elon Musk said that he will offer the Grok 3 model in open source in about 6 months. For your information, the current version of Grok is Grok 4 which is offered to users via the Grok application and also X.
